Moon Maker Session
In this 1:1 offering, we will sit together (in person or virtually) for a 50 minute conversation ~ you’ll share what is most on your mind and heart / what you’re struggling with / what you’re growing towards, and I will hold space and ask questions.
Afterwards, I will take time to reflect and devise a series of prompts for you for creative practice+play, to support you based on what you’ve shared. The prompts will also be infused with moon cycle magic.
I will send you the prompts by snail mail in 4 envelopes, each marked with a date on which to open them, corresponding to the upcoming moon phases. For example,
Envelope 1: “to be opened on 10/9/22, full moon in Aries”
Envelope 2: “to be opened on 10/17/22, waning half moon in Cancer”
Envelope 3: “to be opened on 10/25/22, new moon in Libra”
Envelope 4: “to be opened on 11/1/22, waxing half moon in Aquarius”
Your experience with the prompts will be your own autonomous adventure, but I welcome you to reach out and connect about what you’re creating / what you’re uncovering / what’s coming up if you would like witness.
Suggested sliding scale tiers: $180, $270, or $360. Payment plans available upon request.
Moon Maker Series!
This iteration of the offering is for those craving more hands-on support. We will take an 8 week journey together: we’ll meet 4 times (for 50 minutes), every other week on the half moon. Inspired by these conversations, I will send you prompts by snail mail every other week, on the full moon and the new moon. This series gives us the opportunity to process what arises in your experience with the prompts, and to dive even deeper into the waters of curiosity and creativity.
Sliding scale: $450 - $720. Payment plans available upon request.
Write to me here to request the Moon Maker Series, and we will devise a schedule together based on the upcoming moon phases!
1:1 Testimonials
Working with Joanna was like the continuous unfolding of a good dream. I felt so deeply held, seen and listened to; gently led away from my despair to a place of hopefulness. I don’t think I’ve ever been so grateful to receive something through the mail; opening her letters felt magical and profound. Whilst I still don’t exactly have the words for what transpired between us, our work together holds a place in my heart and soul that continues to give rewards and that I will treasure forever. If you feel moved, please give yourself the gift of a session with Joanna. ~ Laura PB

Let me just say how amazing this experience was. So incredible. One of the things that really stands out is how seen I feel and felt throughout the process, with your questions and your prompts — the way you wove together so many important-to-me and beautiful threads of our conversations — how creative and playful the prompts were — what an incredible gift that was. ~ Hope T

I’m in a stage where I wanna hole up and create by myself, and the Moon Maker Session was suited to that state of mind. I could just talk about me me me, and you were such a good listener, and now I have these perfectly tailored experiments to do when time and body allow. They feel both challenging and compassionate, and that is exactly what I was hoping for. You are so good at what you do and, my goodness, does the world need more of it. ~ LM

Jo's Moon Maker journey was the greatest gift I have given myself all year. Sparking creative joy and gently guiding me out of habitual thinking, this practice was a both a lifeline and an invitation into new depths. With exquisite care and thoughtful attention, Jo listened to what I was seeking, and then, in a series of delightful missives that become the high point of my month, offered me joy and hope and -- most importantly -- an unexpected playfulness to connect me to the greater cosmos and invigorate me on my creative path. I can't recommend it enough! ~ Lydia

You hack the museum security system and sneak in in the middle of the night.
You mar / alter / destroy / enhance each exhibit with GROSS STUFF YOU LOVE.
You have Gross Stuff Superpowers, so you can: spread mold rapidly; hock the perfect loogie with perfect aim; summon a sea of maggots…
When your revenge / improvement campaign is complete, you toilet paper the museum entrances with slightly (imperceptibly?) used TP, go home, and sleep soundly.

Chapter One: School
You wait with little Ray Ray for the school bus. It’s her first day. She’s excited and nervous and holds tight to the straps of her animal-print backpack. You’ve been helping her practice her boxes, six sides, sealed at the seams. She’s as ready as she’ll ever be. The bus rounds the corner.
But wait, “Do you hear what I hear?” You turn to each other with sharp, hopeful inhales. In the whir of traffic whizzing by, there it is — the rumbling sound of ocean waves.
As if on cue a gust of wind blows past you, away from the steadily approaching bus. You turn to each other again, with a glint and resolve in your eyes. You grab hands, and run.
…….
You arrive at the ocean, panting and cackling. You collapse on the warm sand and work together to pull off Ray Ray’s carefully laced sneakers. Socks and shoes get tossed over your shoulders as you let the cold water lap at your feet.
When you’ve caught your breath, you begin to trace shapes in the sand. “I want to tell you where we come from,” you say. Little Ray Ray looks at you with rapt attention.
What do you tell her, and how?

Experiment #4
Waning Half Moon in Cancer, October 6, 2023
head + shoulders knees + toes
knees + toes
Cover your feet and hands in paint.
Close your eyes.
Dance in such a way that you are, at all times, being led by a hand, a foot, a finger or toe. Liberally grab hold of things you bump into / press your hands against the walls that surround you.
Dance like this for as long as you want to.
Stop when you want to stop.
Open your eyes. Hop to the sink to wash your hands and feet. Return with a piece of chalk.
Behold the 3D mural of footprints and handprints you have made. With the chalk, draw lines connecting each print, leaving not a single one out. This is your map.
Take an “aerial” photo of your map by standing up on a high thing.
Print out a map of Nashville.
Transpose your map onto the city map.
Travel those ways to those places. Let your feet and hands touch this town.
